The list of ancillary items for today’s modern conservatory includes extra security, additional ventilation through skylights, (Operable by brass pole, electric, mineral or automatic), trickle ventilation ogee guttering, traditional lead lined guttering, added mouldings such as pilasters, cornices, dado rails, plate shelves (delft rails).
There is also a choice of roof glazing materials, either polycarbonate or glass. Polycarbonate is available either triple wall, four wall or even five walls thick for increased acoustic properties and better insulation properties, all available in a clear, opal, or brown tint finish. Glass on the other hand has endless amounts of permutations - for example ‘Anti-sun’ glass is tinted to reduce glare and ‘Low E’ glass is heat retaining. Our standard glass roof is made up from 4mm toughened outer and inner panes of glass. Laminated glass is a higher specification alternative to toughened.

Our range of Decorative PVC-U conservatorie utilizes the technical benefits of our drained and gasketed PVC-U window and door sections and the conservatory roofs have been designed on the same principles. The roof sections have been designed to allow for thermal expansion and contraction, and incorporate an external drainage system to prevent any possibility of water ingress.
All the roof rafter sizes are calculated to ensure that our conservatories perform to the requirements of CP3 Chapter V pt.2 with reference to wind and snow loading for any location in the U.K. specified to us.
The roof rafters comprise an aluminium “T” section cloaked in PVC-U capping. There is one standard rafter size covering all glazing options - polycarbonate and glass. Variable thickness aluminium “T” sections are used to accommodate imposed loads and design spans. Correctly designed rafter sections enable: -
a) protection of the unit’s perimeter seal from ultra-violet light,
b) support of the unit on the horizontal plane thus avoiding stressing of the unit and the perimeter seals,
c) thermal expansion of the glass unit independent from the rafter
Elevation Modules are linked to each other with 10mm alumiunium reinforced PVC-U “joiners”. The standard module width without a mullion does not exceed 1200mm. 90 degree angled modules are linked with an aluminium reinforced 59mm PVC-U corner post, and non-90 degree angled modules are linked with an aluminium reinforced 50mm PVC-U pole. The Heads of all elevation modules are reinforced with 1mm galvanised steel to provide a fixing point for the roof eaves beam.
Roofs are “low maintenance” incorporating PVC-U finials, crestings and glazing beads. The aluminium “T” section structural roof rafters are sleeved in PVC-U
